Colorado Employer Earns Pinnacle’s Circle of Safety Award

We did it again!

For the third consecutive year, Columbine Label has achieved a Pinnacol Circle of Safety Award for our high standard and commitment to safety, risk control, claims management, and financial management.

In all, the 29 award winners account for less than 1% of Pinnacol Assurance’s 57,000 Colorado policyholders. And of the 29 winners, only 12 received a GOLD award!

The winner meets a high bar for workplace safety and risk management

Centennial, Colorado, Feb. 28, 2019 – Pinnacol Assurance, Colorado’s leading workers’ compensation insurer, is honoring Columbine Label Company with its 2018 Circle of Safety Award. Just 29 Colorado employers earned the award for their exemplary performance in safety, risk control, and financial and claims management. This is the 3rd year Columbine Label has received the award.

“This year’s Circle of Safety winners recognize that workplace safety is about much more than checking some boxes,” said Phil Kalin, Pinnacol’s president, and CEO. “These employers are creating a safety culture that permeates everything they do, and the result is a healthier, more productive workforce.”

Pinnacol created the Circle of Safety Award with the understanding that exceptional risk management is the result of a circle of many people working together. From top management and frontline employees to Pinnacol representatives and the policyholders’ agents, everyone plays a role in making Colorado workplaces safer.

Columbine Labels’ safety program is designed around its safety culture with employee involvement, and full participation being a requirement.  In keeping Safety top of mind, Columbine has monthly safety meetings where it provides lunch, for the whole company, to review the safety topics of the month.  They try to make it fun and enjoyable by playing games and making sure the topics remain relevant.  It’s not unordinary for the owner to toss out a reward (usually a gift card) to an employee with a stellar answer to a safety question, or for bringing up a new safety-related concern.

“Safety in the workplace is vital in sustaining a successful print production operation.  Safety culture is the number one priority for every employee working for Columbine Label.  Overall else, it is more important that everyone goes home in the same condition they arrived at work”, says owner Greg Jackson.
