To avoid production problems, and to assure the highest possible quality, please use the following guidelines when creating art for your labels:
- Positive type smaller than 3.5 pt. and reverse type smaller than 6pt. are not recommended.
- Horizontal scaling of text and kerning should remain at 100% for any text under 6 pt.
- Line thickness should be limited to a minimum .5 pt. for positive lines and 1pt. for reverse lines.
- When creating color, please use color as it will print. Indicate spot colors as PMS colors. For jobs that will use 4-color process please create colors as CMYK. If you want to match a PMS color in process, we will convert it. Please keep in mind, though, that many PMS colors can not convert accurately to process.
- Please make certain to provide a hard copy printout of all files to be printed.
- Bleed – Minimum 1/16” (.0625”) bleed. Borders that bleed off the label must have a minimum 1/8” thickness in addition to the 1/16” bleed.
- Trap – Columbine Label Company will create trap for all artwork. Minimum 1/2 pt. (.007”) trap (diagonal lines and certain designs may require more trapping).
- Fonts – Please supply all printer and screen fonts used on type that is outside the Adobe family.
- Do not use four color process to build barcodes. SIMPLY PROVIDE THE BARCODE NUMBER. We have the software to create the proper barcode and reduction.
- Resolution – minimum 300 dpi at full print size for raster files.
- 2% minimum dot size on gradients.
