1. Do I really need a “custom” label?
A custom label is simply one that’s made specifically for you or your product. In contrast, a “stock” label is a general label for a common use such as “fragile” sign for a box, or “push” sign for a door. Virtually everything we do is custom manufactured.
2. How do I know what type of material to use for my label?
A customer service representative can help you to decide on the best material. You will need to take things into consideration such as exposure to temperature, wetness, condensation and sunlight. You will also need to determine the type of package(s) it will be applied to as well as the need for a light or strong adhesive.
3. What about plates?
Plates print the impressions that become your label. Each color requires a different plate. We can advise you of the number of plates required after reviewing the artwork. Plates are a 1 time charge. As long as the copy remains constant, you will only pay for this item one time.
4. What about dies?
Dies “stamp” out the desired shape of your label. Depending on the size and shape, it’s likely that we already have the necessary die for the shape you require. If not, we can give an estimate on the cost of a desired shape and size. We will generally recommend the closest die available to keep costs to a minimum. Dies are a 1 time charge. As long as the shape and size remains constant, you will only pay for this item one time. If we have the necessary die, there is no additional cost.

5. How are labels priced?
Most labels are priced per 1000 labels (1M). Minimum order is 1000 labels. Special materials may require a higher minimum. Pricing is generally determined by the by the size, material, number of colors (exact PMS colors are not necessary during the quoting process), and quantity of labels, but can also be affected by the shape--the larger the quantity, the lower the unit price. You may also find a price advantage by combining a run with common size and shaped labels.
6. Never bought labels before?
We deal with many first time labels buyers. Even our veteran buyers still depend on us to recommend the products we feel will best suit their needs. Let’s face it, you can’t know everything! So why not depend on our knowledgeable and highly trained staff to be the experts. We will always send material samples for testing if there is any question.
7. How do we proceed?
- First we will offer a job estimate based on your artwork or specifications provided.
- The job estimate, upon approval, becomes a work order and is immediately sent to each department for material staging and art/plating.
- Next a proof is generated. This can be a hard copy, or an e-mailed proof (whichever you prefer).
- Upon approval of the proof, the work order gets scheduled into production.
- Finally, the labels are printed, sent through finishing and shipped. (usually labels are shipped the same day they are printed)
8. What if there is a problem with my label?
Try as we might, no one delivers zero defects. Our goal is to fix the problem, should one occur. We work with our customers beyond producing a product that is merely “in spec.” The product has to look good and perform its intended purpose. It may be “in spec.”, but if it doesn’t work, what good is it? We stand behind our products. We want our customers to trust that we are label experts and strive to produce high quality products. Give us the opportunity to correct our errors. Keep an open communication with us. This will keep a long term relationship even stronger.

9. Can I send my own file to make a label?
Yes. We do accept customer supplied files. (Please refer to our “Send Art” page for specifications). We reserve the right to rework the files to fit our particular process. This seldom results in a change in the look of your label. On the chance that a change will be required, we will contact you and allow you to make the final decision.
10. Can I send you a photograph (drawing, painting, or printed piece) to create my label from?
Yes. Please check with us first, though, as we may have questions concerning copyright and reproduction rights, as well as possible reproducibility issues.
11. Can you design my label?
Yes. Check out our portfolio and send us an email. Our graphics department is experienced in creating exciting new label designs. We would be happy to create your label from conception through production.
